Some studies have examined the potential of exercise as a treatment in itself for migraine. Although these reports are based on a relatively small number of patients, the results are very encouraging. When inactive patients begin a program of walking or running for 30 minutes a day, 3 days per week, the average reduction in headache frequency can be 50% or greater after several weeks of training.
