Migraineurs: take the red eye

Recent research claims that red-tinted contact lenses can not only reduce light sensitivity for migraineurs, but that it can actually alleviate migraines altogether.

It works by limiting the short and medium wavelength light that overstimulates some of the cones in the eye.

Studies were conducted by Dr. Richard Ruiz, chairman of ophthalmology at UT Houston Medical School, as well as Dr. Richard L. Garrison and Kathleen Saathoff of San Jacinto Methodist Hospital in Baytown, Texas.

Are red-tinted contact lenses available at a local optometrist office? I would love to give them a try to see if they help my weekly migraines.

I believe they have red-tinted contacts; however, I'm not sure if the ones in the study were specialized for certain frequencies of light... If so, simply getting red-tinted contacts may not be enough, though it's certainly worth a try.
