Migraine-Safe Activities

Last night I had the unfortunate opportunity to try out some of the migraine-safe activities suggested by Elizabeth (@eawake), Jasmine (@jasminepw), Diana Lee (@somebodyhealme), & Janice (@mcfitzsatx).
Essentially, when I have a migraine, my eyes are of no use to me... anything that involves reading or using the computer is out the window. And I find that can be quite limiting for me, because most of the time, when I have a mild / low-impact migraine, I have the urge to just slow down and read. However, the anxiety of not being able to do so, and generally feeling "unproductive" often leads to greater stress rebound headaches.
So I've been looking for something to do. One great idea is listening to books on tape. I downloaded some works by Jon Kabat-Zinn on mindfulness, which had the added benefit of helping my relax.
Some other ideas included: light exercise at gym, online games, board games, chores, yoga, meditation, playing board game, crosswords, walking, watching TV, reading, or chatting with people online.
As I mentioned, regardless of my migraine's intensity it is usually painful for me to use my eyes in any focused way. Unfortunately, this eliminates a lot of options.
One thing I love to do, particularly on high migraine potential days, is to go to the movies. The darkness of the theater, the lack of focus necessary with my eyes, and the passive nature of if all combine to make it the most pleasant thing I can do when my head is throbbing.
And in case you're wondering, I do have an appointment scheduled for an eye exam!

May not be your cup of tea, but I discovered that knitting is something I can do as long as it is something easy with big needles. I could never go to a movie- I can't even stand to watch tv
