If they only knew...

Right now I'm really struggling with the fact that "people" out there have no clue how much pain I'm in.  I had to go to the ER again for a migraine last week and they tried everything that I knew wouldn't work because they don't want to give out any narcotic pain relief.  I understand that, but when they can see that I have a history of migraines and they still spend wasted hours giving me things that I know wont help it is exasperating.  A weather system started moving in yesterday afternoon and my migraine got real severe, really fast and I cried all night and didn't go to the ER because I knew they would spend hours doing "nothing" before giving me just a "little" something that helped before sending me home and my being in as much pain 2 hours later.  And for the record, I don't have any pain medicine at home currently because I had to wait until today to fill my Rx - per my insurance company - they don't get it either!

    They just don't get it

I can't tell you how many times this has happened to me - the ER visits begging the PA for the drugs I know work, only to have them play around with other drugs that are expensive as hell and do nothing (and sometimes make it worse!). But I talked to my regular dr about this problem, and he wrote a letter stating the medications that stop my migraines to take with me to ER so that the next time I won't have play guinea pig to excitable PAs who refuse to give you anything for the pain until you sign a release to allow them to do a spinal tap (which happened on my last visit).
